MRMC’S Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive Collects More Than 525 Jars of Peanut Butter for Christos Center

To help address hunger in our community, and in celebration of National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day on April 2, Moberly Regional Medical Center has collected more than 525 jars of peanut butter (and other nut butters) for the Christos Center.
Peanut butter was donated by MRMC’S employees, board members, medical staff members and community members during the recent Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive.
According to Feeding Missouri, 14.2 percent of residents in Randolph County struggle to put food on the table. The Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive was launched to help support individuals who are facing food insecurity, which is a social determinant of health.
“Food insecurity has a significant impact on a person’s overall health and well being,” said Michael Hall, MRMC CEO. “We are here to not only care for you when you need us, but it is our goal to also help those in our communities live healthier. I am thankful to all who donated to this Drive and their impact on fighting hunger in the communities we serve.”
Peanut butter is one of the most requested items for food banks because it is highly nutritious and has a long shelf life. Unfortunately, many food banks in America report it is also one of the least donated food items. Other foods needed by food banks include cans of vegetables, cans of pork and beans, macaroni and cheese and healthy cereals.
