Moberly Regional Medical Center and University of Missouri Health Care Joining Forces to Enhance Patient Care in Northeast Missouri
10/3/2023
MOBERLY, Mo. – Oct. 3, 2023 – With a shared commitment for improving rural access to quality healthcare, Moberly Regional Medical Center and University of Missouri Health Care (MU Health Care) have formed a strategic relationship designed to increase access to specialty services and enhance healthcare for people living in northeastern Missouri.
The relationship will bring MU Health Care physicians and specialty services to Moberly, expanding medical services that MRMC can offer locally and connecting patients who may need it to higher level care in Columbia.
“Combining the roots, relationships and strengths of our community hospital with the expertise of a premier academic health system is a winning formula that creates comprehensive care, more options and can keep local residents close to home when they need medical care,” said Michael Hall, CEO, Moberly Regional Medical Center. “Our collaboration fulfills the commitment we have to serving our community and MU Health Care's commitment to ensure continued access to quality healthcare in Missouri's rural communities.”
The alignment builds upon an existing relationship MU Health Care and Moberly Regional Medical Center have in which MU Health Care physicians staff Moberly Regional’s Emergency Department to ensure immediate access to high-level care in a medical crisis and the ability to tap into University Hospital’s Level 1 trauma center, Level 1 STEMI center and Comprehensive Stroke Center.
“This strategic relationship aligns with our commitment to expand access to healthcare in Missouri’s rural communities and affirms our mission to save and improve lives,” said Nim Chinniah, vice chancellor for health affairs, MU Health Care. “Not only will this improve care for northeast Missourians where they live, but we will be able to better connect them with more than 600 MU Health Care doctors in more than 80 specialties working together to ensure they receive the highest quality care possible.”
